Let's Talk About Trauma

  • Robinson Film Center 617 Texas St Shreveport, LA, 71101 United States (map)

Childhood trauma has profound psychological, physiological, and sociological impacts and can have negative, lasting effects on health and well-being. It’s important for community leaders and anyone who works with adolescents to reframe their perspective to be a trauma-informed perspective. Rather than asking "What’s wrong with this child," we should be asking "what has happened to this child?”

This FREE event will feature a panel of experts that will lead a discussion and answer questions about these Adverse Childhood Experiences (Aces) and their affects on development and behavior in children and adults.

The panel will include:

Clay Walker, Director of Juvenile Services for Caddo Parish

Chief Judge David Matlock of Caddo Parish Juvenile Court

Barzanna White, Ph.D, a District School Psychologist and School Climate Transformation Director

Bill Rose, Executive Director of CADA (the Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse)

5:30pm: Registration and refreshments
6:00pm: Program begins with panel presentations
